네덜란드의 로테르담, 헤이그와 창원을 중심으로 활동하는 연성(Yeon Sung)은 예술 기반 연구 방법론 (Artistic Research)을 경유한 동시대 탈식민주의 운동의 유의미한 방향성을 모색한다. 특히 접근 가능한 기술을 사용한 DIY-포로토타입핑, 필름메이킹, 글쓰기의 실천을 통해 비-인간 물질이 화자가 된 실재와 상징의 서사를 재구축하는 것에 관심이 있다. 물질 “구리”와 “먼지”를 주체로 유럽과 아시아의 구/신식민지적 토양의 “장소성”과 과거 식민사부터 현재의 환경 위기로 이어지는 “시간성”을 횡단하는 예술 실험을 발전 시켜 나가고 있다.
